One of my goals for 2025 was to participate in more artist alleys and markets, and I have a few markets lined up for the summer. (I haven't had near as much luck with artist alleys 😅) So I am pretty happy with myself. This past weekend I was able to participate in my second outdoor market, a small weekend popup benefitting a local animal rescue. It was a pretty chill experience and I was happy to have applied some of the lessons I learned from my first outdoor experience last summer, mainly about how to fight the wind haha! (we still had some near catastrophes at the end but they were very minor compared to my struggles last year setting up outdoors for the first time).

It was just set up in a city park and there were no assigned spots, so I could set up wherever I wanted. That was definitely a confusing first time experience for me but it was pretty nice to be able to choose my own location. There was plenty of space so it was really no issue, but just confusing when I turned up bright and early at setup time, and I was the only one there! A quick email to the organizers solved that issue.

The highlight was definitely selling one of my mini original paintings, my first sale of an original! Still no takers for my pink bat but I am not complaining since I am happy keeping her on my wall for now until the next market.

Overall it was a fun weekend and definitely not a bad way to get outside, meet some people, and sell a few of my art pieces while I'm at it! 💕

I was able to meet my 2024 goal earlier than expected, and I was able to sell my art at Almacon! It was the perfect starter convention, small and fairly local. I had a blast! There were a few hiccups (like me forgetting the awesome banner I designed and bought all the way at home... -_-), and it was a little slow traffic-wise, but it taught me one thing. I definitely want to do it again! I made more than I expected and it was incredibly validating to know people actually would want to buy something I made!! (crazy, right?). I met a lot of cool artists and because it was slow at times, I was able to talk quite a bit with them. There was a lot of inspiration to be seen.

I'm hoping to do this again soon, if any other convention will have me, and it was a great way to dip my toes in.
